The poet,
philosopher and politician Allama Sir
Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot, British India, Pakistan and his poetry is
regarded one of most modern poets, Urdu, Arab and Persian, which was designed
to encourage Pakistan's development by the Muslims of British India as an own
state. It is usually known as Allama Iqbal, meaning Allama,
"Scholar.") Iqbal was a major proponent of the worldwide political
and spiritual revitalization of Islamic civilization but particularly of Indian
culture; the reconstruction of religious thinking in Islam was presented in a
series of renowned lectures he gave to this effect. One of the leading leaders
of the All India Muslim League, Iqbal, during his presidential address in 1930
supported the formation of a "state in north-west India for Indian
Muslims."
He is known as Mufakkir-e-Pakistan ("Thinker of Pakistan"), Shair-e-Mashriq ("The Poet of the
East") and Hakeem-ul-Ummat
("The Wise of Ummah"). He is known as the "Shair-e-Jinn." He is regarded in Pakistan for being the
"national poet." Iqbal invited the youth constantly to aspire and to
compare them to an eagle without fear, who knows no limits. This well-known
lyric by Sitaron Se Agay of his
Iqbal has been and still is a source of inspiration for generations of
children. Iqbal pushes young people to seek wider and undiscovered opportunities.
When he tells them that they are in front of greater skies, he asks young
people to break new ground, to become pioneers and to go beyond the apparent to
tread where anyone has ever done it before. And that's what our young people
need to do to escape the monotonous mould in which Pakistan is bound.
